The course is included in the main field of study Urban Studies at advance level 91-120 credits.
Syfte
The course is research preparatory and deepens and develops the theoretical and methodological knowledge and generic skills that the student has acquired within the masters programme Urban Studies: Urban Business and Development – Real Estate and Transport. The course facilitates active involvement in research projects dealing with economic (Business Administration, Economics, Economic Geography) research questions within the field of Urban Studies.
Innehåll
The course facilitates active involvement in research projects at the department of Urban Studies. Researchers active in the available research projects provide supervision.
Lärandemål
Following successful completion of the course students should:
1. demonstrate broad knowledge and understanding of how it is to work practically with research
2. demonstrate the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in the main field of study Urban Studies in practical research work
3. demonstrate an ability to present a relevant, self-selected theme or research question related to the main field of study Urban Studies
4. independently prepare and present a written report of the experiences gained from the research internship
5. demonstrate the ability to make assessments in the main field of study informed by relevant disciplinary, social and ethical issues and also to demonstrate awareness of ethical aspects of research and development work
6. demonstrate ability to gather and use knowledge from practical research work
7. demonstrate insight of the possibilities and limitations of research, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used

Independent literature studies, tutoring, seminars, and active research work.
Bedömningsformer
Written report (30 credits) (grading scale UG) (learning outcomes 1-7)
In order to pass the course the written report (30 credits) need to be passed.

Kursvärdering
Malmö University provides students who participate in, or who have completed a course, with the opportunity to express their opinions and describe their experiences of the course by completing a course evaluation administered by the University. The University will compile and summarise the results of course evaluations. The University will also inform participants of the results and any decisions relating to measures taken in response to the course evaluations. The results will be made available to the students (HF 1:14).
Övergångsbestämmelser
If a course is no longer offered, or has undergone significant changes, the students must be offered two opportunities for re-examination based on the syllabus that applied at the time of registration, for a period of one year after the changes have been implemented.

If a student has a Learning support decision, the examiner has the right to provide the student with an adapted test, or to allow the student to take the exam in a different format.
