Entry requirements
Bachelor's degree (180 credits) or equivalent in social sciences, humanities, arts or design studies.
General eligibility + the equivalent of Swedish higher secondary school English course B.

Organisation
The programme aims to advance the students' scientific knowledge and skills in media and communication studies. The programme is established in the research profile of new media, public spheres and forms of expression.
The programme is designed to provide students with the requisite skills to work in media and communication - at companies, government agencies, and organisations that specifically have media and communication as their main field of activity, and at companies, government agencies and organisations that depend on media and communications in order to achieve their goals. The programme also gives students eligibility to pursue further studies in the field.
The programme comprises 60 credits. It is web-based and taught in English. Upon completion of the education, the student shall have acquired at least 30 credits in their main field of media and communication studies.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding
In order to receive a master's degree in Media and Communication Studies, students shall demonstrate:
- knowledge and understanding of media and communication studies, including both an overview of the field, in-depth knowledge of specific parts of the field, and insight into current research and development work; and
- specialised methodological knowledge in media and communication studies.
Competencies and skills
In order to receive a master's degree in Media and Communication Studies, students shall demonstrate:
- the ability to integrate knowledge and to analyse, assess and deal with complex phenomena, issues and situations, even with limited information;
- the ability to independently identify and formulate research problems, plan and, using appropriate methods, undertake advanced tasks within predetermined time frames;
- the ability, both verbally and in writing, to report clearly and discuss their conclusions and the knowledge and arguments on which these conclusions are based in dialogue with different audiences; and
- the skills required for participation in research and development work or employment in another qualified capacity.
Evaluation and approach
In order to receive a master's degree in Media and Communication Studies, students shall demonstrate:
- the ability to make assessments in relation to relevant disciplinary, social and ethical issues and to demonstrate awareness of the ethical aspects of research and development work;
- insight into the possibilities and limitations of research, its role in society and the responsibility of the individual for how research is used; and
- the ability to identify personal needs for further knowledge and take responsibility for their ongoing learning.
