Entry requirements
Admission to the course requires a minimum of 60 approved credits with a certain progression in one of the following main fields: European Studies, Human Rights, International Migration and Ethnic Relations, International Relations, or Peace and Conflict Studies.

Course objectives
The aim of the internship is to give the student the opportunity to apply the knowledge of her/his main field on a practical level, and to provide the student with experiences from practical work on the subject at various levels of society, such as information dissemination, training, planning and reporting.
This course is aimed at students who are admitted to one of the following bachelor's programmes: Human Rights, International Migration and Ethnic Relations, International Relations, Peace- and Conflict Studies, and European Studies.
Course contents
The course consists of 18 to 20 weeks of internship, during the regular semester, at an international organisation, government and local authority, business, voluntary organisation, or cultural institution, etc.
The student is responsible for finding and organising an internship. The internship must be approved by the Internship Coordinator and a written agreement must exist between Malmö University and the place of the internship. It is important that tasks are of a relevant and advanced character. The internship plan, drawn up between representatives of the internship and the student, must be approved by the Internship Coordinator.
The internship must be unpaid. Internships in countries or areas which the Department for Foreign Affairs (UD) advises against entering will not be accepted.
Learning outcomes
After completion of the course, the student shall:
Knowledge and understanding
- display knowledge and understanding of how it is to work practically with issues related to their major subject
- have enhanced knowledge and understanding of employment opportunities within sectors related to their major subject
Skills and abilities
- display the ability to apply their theoretical knowledge in their major subject in a practical way
- display a capacity to, in an independent manner, establish contacts and networks with actors involved within their major subject
- demonstrate an ability to present a relevant, self selected theme or issue related to their major subject that was relevant and in focus during the internship period
- independently prepare and present a written report of the experiences gained from the practical work
Judgement and approach
- independently identify and formulate possible future career paths and the possible need for further education
- display an ability to value their own skills and to identify existing relevant areas of potential work within their major subject
- can assess his/her own competence and identify relevant areas of potential work within the field of the major subject
Learning activities
Practical work with issues related to the main field of study.
Assessment
The learning outcomes of the course are assessed by way of a written report.

The course has no mandatory literature.
Additional information
In addition to the above eligibility criteria, an internship requires an agreement, drawn up between representatives of the internship and the student through Malmö University.
