Course contents
The course aims to enable students to analyze the trends and developments that today's sports exhibit, in the form of, for example, facility development, the increased number of sporting events and the emerging sports tourism, and to be able to relate these to different perspectives on sustainable development.
The course covers the concept of sustainable development, its definitions and different ways of applying the concept and measuring sustainability factors. It also covers current development trends in sport, such as the great interest in arranging sporting events, the extensive construction of new arenas, the emerging sports tourism and the development of both club sports and commercial sports. In the next step, sustainable development is linked to the development of sport, and a central part of the course is to select and analyse parts of sports development using different sustainability factors.
