The course belongs to the main field of Business Administration at the level of 1-30 credits and may be mandatory for the bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Managing and reporting on sustainability impacts is a significant challenge for small and large organizations. This course aims to introduce students to sustainability reporting (SR) by introducing them to different frameworks, providing insights on SR from research, and developing a critical and constructive perspective on existing sustainability reports across various types of organizations.
On completion of the course, the students will be able to:
- Account for existing frameworks for Sustainability Reporting.
- Articulate and apply key concepts of Sustainability Reporting.
- Critically analyze existing Sustainability Reports from various organizations.
- Assess the quality, transparency, and comprehensiveness of these reports, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Write about and critically analyze current research and literature related to Sustainability Reporting.
Lectures, seminars and self-study
The course contains the following mode of assessment:
- Individual project presentation (1,5 hp ) (UG) (Learning outcomes: 2,3)
- Individual written assignment (6 hp) (UA) (Learning outcomes: 1,2,3,4,5)
All learning outcomes are individually assessed.
For a passing course grade at least G/E is required. The course grade is based on the Individual written assignment.

Malmö University provides students who participate in, or who have completed a course, with the opportunity to express their opinions and describe their experiences of the course by completing a course evaluation administered by the University. The University will compile and summarise the results of course evaluations. The University will also inform participants of the results and any decisions relating to measures taken in response to the course evaluations. If a course is no longer offered, or has undergone significant changes, the students must be offered two opportunities for re-examination based on the syllabus that applied at the time of registration, for a period of one year after the changes have been implemented.
