The aim of the course is for the student to develop the skills needed to make successful oral presentations using drama and acting techniques for voice and speech.

The course deals with rhetoric and presentation techniques with a special focus on the use of different speech techniques and drama exercises. The course has two parts: in the first part, drama and acting techniques are used to develop the student’s awareness of their voice, body language, and speaking skills, as well as to apply these in oral presentations. The second part consists of memorization exercises and the execution of a monologue from a drama.

After completing the course, the student should be able to complete adaptable oral presentations.

The course contains various forms of work, such as

practical drama workshops with physical exercises and voice exercises, memorization of text, and practice in and supervision of oral presentations.

The course has a process-oriented approach, and the student actively participates in their learning through the above-mentioned teaching methods.

The course is examined through an oral presentation.

Since active participation in certain practical learning activities is a prerequisite for achieving the learning objective, certain course elements are mandatory. At the start of the course, the course leader indicates the elements that require compulsory attendance.

The re-examination takes place through the recording of oral presentations.

Grading criteria for the course are announced by the course leader at the start of the course.

For all assessments, the basis must be such that individual performance can be distinguished.

Supplementary material provided by the course leader (max. 100 pages) and literature selected individually by the student in consultation with the course leader (max. 15 pages) will be added.

Malmö University provides students who participate in, or who have completed a course, with the opportunity to express their opinions and describe their experiences of the course by completing a course evaluation administered by the University. The University will compile and summarise the results of course evaluations. The University will also inform participants of the results and any decisions relating to measures taken in response to the course evaluations. The results will be made available to the students (HF 1:14).

If a course is no longer offered, or has undergone significant changes, the students must be offered two opportunities for re-examination based on the syllabus that applied at the time of registration, for a period of one year after the changes have been implemented.

If a student has a Learning support decision, the examiner has the right to provide the student with an adapted test, or to allow the student to take the exam in a different format. The syllabus is a translation of a Swedish source text.
